Abstract
An editorial introduction to this special issue on climate finance mechanisms tailored to Global South economies.

This special issue brings together six papers examining how climate finance mechanisms designed largely by and for developed economies translate — or fail to translate — into the operating realities of Global South institutions.
A recurring theme across the contributions is the mismatch between the multi-year, high-certainty funding cycles that adaptation projects require and the short, competitively-renewed grant structures most climate funds still operate under. We hope this issue sharpens the case for structural reform rather than incremental adjustment.
